I first stumbled upon the writings of Frank Smith on the shelves of the English Language Institute at U.D. I like his books because he is visibly thinking aloud, philosophizing, bIDg his text both on science and on his own experience.
If you are looking for a "how to" book, this is not the right book for you. If you are looking for a thoughtful work on the theory of language, grammar, the process of writing and thoughts on what goes in the brain of a writer, you will enjoy this book.
